The Console Wars Have Begun
It is finally happening. The console wars of this generation have begun. On Tuesday, the PlayStation Twitter account released a statement saying that the PlayStation 5 will be released next year, in time for the holiday season.
Sony PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that the PlayStation 5 will be called just that. Lead System Architect Mark Lerny said that the PS5 will support ray tracing, with games coming bundled with 100GB optical discs that can be installed in individual modules using the consoles integrated 4k Blu-ray player.
Speaking of specs, there is also: custom-made AMD Navi-processor, support for 8K Ultra HD, a new power-saving mode and a revamped PlayStation controller that featured haptic feedback, and “adaptive triggers” which delivers resistance based on your in-game activities.
It is clear that PlayStation have the high ground over Xbox’s Project Scarlett, but anything can change over the next year.
