Why I'm Not Mad about the Xbox Elite Controller
The Elite Controller was announced not that long ago. Ever since then I have seen a wide range of opinions online about it – mostly negative. This is down to the price tag of £159.99. I decided to do my research into what this controller offers to match that ridiculous price, and honestly, I’m just not that mad about it.
Here’s the thing that most people are overlooking when it comes to this controller – it isn’t targeted towards the everyday gamer. Xbox are not expecting casual Sims players to pick up this controller as soon as it becomes available. It’s just not realistic. This “Elite” controller is made for the professionals. The Cloud Nine’s of the gaming world. Yes, it is still expensive for competitive players, but it makes you understand the price more when you realise that we are not the intended demographic.
Let’s look at the controller’s main features.
“The Elite Wireless Controller offers 30 new ways to play like a pro, including adjustable-tension thumbsticks, new interchangeable components, up to 40 hours of rechargeable battery life, and limitless customization with the Xbox Accessories App.”
Basically, you can adjust the thumbsticks to your preference which will help with aiming and remain on target with the wraparound grip. You can fire even faster with shorter hair trigger locks. It is completely customizable with the three different profiles available. Players are also able to change button mapping configurations on the Accessories app.
Overall, I do agree that the price of this controller is ridiculous. What I don’t agree with, is chasing Xbox down the street with pitchforks. This controller is not designed for the everyday player in mind. For competitive players the Elite Controller sounds like a dream come true.
The Elite Wireless Controller is available on the 4th of November on the Xbox Store.
